A516 Grade 60 is a carbon-manganese-silicon pressure vessel steel plate designed for moderate- and lower-temperature service in boilers, welded pressure vessels, and industrial process equipment. The grade provides reliable notch toughness, stable fabrication performance, and consistent strength across different thickness ranges. It is commonly used in petrochemical, power generation, and industrial pressure systems requiring dependable plate quality and good weldability.
Chemical Composition (ASTM A516/A516M)
Carbon: ≤ 0.23%
Manganese: 0.60–0.90%
Silicon: 0.15–0.40%
Phosphorus: ≤ 0.035%
Sulfur: ≤ 0.035%
The carbon-manganese-silicon alloy system provides balanced strength, toughness, and weldability for pressure vessel fabrication.

Mechanical Properties
Tensile Strength: 415–550 MPa
Yield Strength: ≥ 220 MPa
Elongation:
≥ 21% (200 mm gauge length)
≥ 25% (50 mm gauge length)

These values support safe operation in moderate- and lower-temperature pressure systems.

Size Range
Thickness: 3–150 mm
Width: 1220–4200 mm
