The ASME SA516 specification is a part of the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code and is a standard which governs the use of carbon steel in weldable industrial boilers and pressure vessels. There are available four grades under this specification, having different strength levels as follows:Grade 55/60/65/70

ASME SA516 Heat Treatment

Plates 1.50 in. [40 mm] and under in thickness are normally supplied in the as rolled condition. The plates may be ordered normalized or stress relieved, or both Plates over 1.50 in. [40 mm] in thickness shall be normalized.
